The Senate on Wednesday confirmed President Joe Biden’s nominee for the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission, giving Democrats a majority on that panel.

Senators approved Moshe Marvit, an attorney at the agency and a longtime labor advocate, to serve on the five-member panel, which adjudicates disputes from the Mine Safety and Health Administration. His term will expire in August 2028.

Joining Republicans in opposing Marvit’s nomination was Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-Ariz.); Republican Sen. Katie Britt of Alabama did not vote. Sinema’s office did not immediately respond when asked about the senator’s opposition.
